Homeopathy is one of the most enigmatic of the Medical Arts. While still not widely accepted in conventional medicine in our country and often under attack by “modern scientists” who insist it cannot work, it is growing in popularity all over the world. It won’t go away because … it works! It’s been around for 200 years and is used widely (in over 80 countries, including 42 countries which regulate it as part of their health care system).
Join us for a presentation from guest speaker Certified Homeopath Patricia Kay MA CC CCH. In this presentation, we’ll look at what homeopathy is, see how it is one of the most holistic (and inspiring) systems of healing. You’ll get an introduction about how you can begin to use it, along with resources so you can learn more.
Additionally, Boiron, the world leader in homeopathic medicines and HMN sponsor, has provided us with FREE Arnica samples for attendees, resource flyers, brochures, and more! Come learn about homeopathy and take home information for you and your family.
Patricia has a B.A. in Anthropology and Spanish, an M.A. in Education. She became a Certified Professional Midwife and practiced midwifery for 12 years. She helped found a People’s Clinic in a rural village in Mexico with her husband who was a medical doctor. They had a vision of a more holistic kind of health care. They met
Dr. Rosa Beléndez, during this time, who was one of Mexico’s great homeopaths. In Mexico, homeopathy is part of the health care system. Patricia studied under Rosa for 10 years, while working with women and babies (and families), delivering babies and teaching midwifery. So, she learned “by the seat of her pants” or “on the job” and kept deepening her capacity for working with this most beautiful of Healing Arts and seeing the results quickly. She got hooked on the power of homeopathy.
After she returned to the U.S., she studied for 2 years with a world-renowned homeopath from Canada, Louis Klein, who happened to be leading a two year class for experienced homeopaths in Seattle. He helped bring a new level of understanding to the homeopathic model and how it relates to such a complex (and disordered) society as we live in. She was certified (CCH) by the Council for Homeopathic Certification, a national group that sets and upholds the standards for classical homeopaths. And, she continues to study and attend conferences given by renowned homeopaths, since homeopathy is really a life-long study of Life.
In 2001, she began studying and practicing another modality, Cell Level Meditation, under Dr. Barry Grundland, a psychiatrist who developed this practice and worked with it for over 50 years. Finding this tool to be harmonious with the principles of homeopathy, she and Barry wrote a book to describe it: Cell Level Meditation: breathing with the wisdom and intelligence of the cell. Our bodies have amazing healing potentials, and the basis of her work is founded on this observation.
She currently has a private practice in both modalities: mind/body counseling/meditations and classical homeopathy. The profound beauty and holistic view that comes through the practice of homeopathy during all these years (29) continue to inspire her, and so she has been holding the center of the Washington State Homeopathy Association for the last 7 years, and is currently working with colleagues and lovers of homeopathy to protect public access to homeopathy in Washington State by introducing a bill into the medical practice act. Stay tuned to ways you can help!
