VA - Northern Virginia Area Chapter

Event: Field and Forest Day

August 12 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Pack a picnic lunch and use the pavilion at Round Tree Park for a day of “choose your own adventure” field and forest fun.

This location has something for everyone (tots through teens and adults) with sports fields as well as a playground, woods, and creek. We will have a few touchpoints at the pavilion throughout the day so families may join us at the time that works for them.

Tentative plan:

10:00-10:30 Meet and greet and learn about the park followed by morning free play. Ideas include playground, sports fields (BYO equipment for baseball, basketball or tennis), tree fort-building, fairy houses

12pm: Lunch (BYO) and Regroup

1:00pm: Afternoon free play: continue morning activities or cool off in the creek

What to Bring: food for yourself, ample water (though the there is a bathroom with running water on-site), bug spray, sports gear (if desired), bushcraft gear (if desired), clothes good for forest and water.

It is anticipated that mini-groups will form based on interest rather than the whole group remaining together.

Caregivers shall provide oversight for their own children. Parents may elect to team up for supervision of various activities, but do not disengage from your child without an express agreement with another adult to do so. The park is larger than it seems!

**Look for a loop parking lot at the Roundtree Park sign. This is NOT at the Montessori School, despite what Google Maps says**
