Event: How We Talk to Kids – What They Hear & Learn

March 6, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

How does what we say shape our children’s mindset about themselves and the world?

As parents, we want to know that our kids will be able to tackle the challenges ahead of them. How we talk to them plays a big role. Join HMN San Jose as Dr. Waterman discusses research and examples showing how our words are shaping what kids think. Parents will leave with 2 key ideas to guide interactions & tips to try with children age 0-18.

Dr. Muffie Wiebe Waterman, PhD in Learning Sciences from Stanford, is a mother of 2 teens. Dr. Waterman spent 8 years teaching Child & Adolescent Development, worked in innovative education for 20+ years, directed a non-profit in early childhood learning for low income families, and is the author of Wired to Listen: What Kids Learn from What We Say.
