Event: Monthly Meeting: Raised Bed Gardening and Creating Soil Health

April 26, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 11:15 am

It’s time to talk Gardening! Join us for a session on two gardening topics: Raised Bed Gardening and Creating Soil Health. We will talk about how to get the most out of a raised bed and what will work best for you:

– advantages/disadvantages
– where?
– what type?

Additionally, we will talk about one of your garden’s most critical elements – soil:

– what makes up soil
– characteristics of soil that affect your gardening
– plant nutrients in the soil
– fertility of the soil
– considerations affecting irrigation

About our speaker: A resident of Fremont, Michele Young became an Alameda County Master Gardener in 2016. She enjoys experimenting with various gardening techniques and learning from Mother Nature. In addition to being a Master Gardener, registered nurse, and avid Boy Scout mom, Michele is passionate about educating herself and others about best practices for everyone’s well being.

**Children are always welcome to our monthly meetings. We just ask that you step outside for a moment if your child needs some time to move about and let out some sounds while our speaker is presenting.**
