Event: Monthly Meeting: Invasive Species

September 12, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Are you curious about how to handle invasive species in your yard? Are you interested in creating a yard that is safe space for your family and good for the environment at the same time? Please join us for an evening about how to naturalize your yard to create wildlife habitat with Patricia Pearl Greenberg.

Patricia has two degrees in Environmental Studies. She graduated from George Mason University in December, with a Master’s thesis focused on best practices for increasing urban tree canopy cover in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Patricia is passionate about protecting the planet and her family by living holistically, sharing information with others about living in a sustainable manner and supporting wildlife by using native plants and suppressing invasive species. Patricia has worked for the Reston Association since 2007, with a short break in the middle while she became mom to Mateyo. As the Environmental Resource Supervisor, Patricia works hard to protect and maintain 800 acres of parkland/ wooded lots throughout Reston. Patricia and her two sisters were born in Venezuela and grew up in Reston, the Virgin Islands and Bethesda, Maryland. Patricia served for two and a half years as an Environmental Conservation Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Panama. She hopes to share with the HMN the importance of supporting wildlife as another facet of living holistically on this planet.
