Oral-Facial Development and Your Child: Exploring Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
From thumbsucking to tongue ties, from pacifier use to mouth breathing, many parents and caretakers wonder how a child’s oral habits and physical features may affect the child in the future. Join us this month as we learn from Jennie LaFreniere-Herklotz, a speech-language pathologist and the only certified orofacial myologist in Metro-Milwaukee. Jennie will share information about what can cause an orofacial myofunctional disorder, and then discuss how therapy can help and why it is so important. (Think: dental alignment, orthodontic results, sleep patterns, posture problems, and more.) You are sure to walk away with some new insights and conversation starters on this important topic!
About Jennie
Jennie LaFreniere-Herklotz is the founder and director of both Mequon Speech & Learning Connection and Milwaukee Myo; two clinics that serve the speech-language pathology and orofacial myofunctional therapy needs of children and adults in the greater Milwaukee area. She has over 18 years of experience providing evaluations, therapy, and consultations to children with speech and language disorders, as well as evaluation and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders for both children and adults. Jennie is a member of many professional associations and remains an avid learner in her field. She resides in Mequon with her husband and two children.
