Bees are disappearing at alarming rates; in the US, over 42% of managed honey bee colonies were lost in the last year alone. This is a serious problem since bees are responsible for the vast majority of plants and one-third of the food we eat. Beekeepers and scientists are unsure what is causing the loss, but are investigating several theories. Join us for a viewing of The Vanishing of the Bees, followed by a presentation on what we can do to help support native bees, by Heather Holm, author of Pollinators of Native Plants and owner of a landscape design and consulting firm specializing in native plant landscapes and landscape restorations.
