Event: Monthly Meeting: Zero Waste Kitchens: How to Maximize CSA Farm Shares, Bulk Purchases and/or Garden Yields

Did you know that the average American family throws out between 14-25% of the food and beverages they purchase?  This amounts to $1,365 to $2,275 annually. Please join chapter member Melissa Smith, graduate of L’Academie de Cuisine and former cook at 2941 Restaurant in Fairfax, as she shares her passion and love of all things culinary.  Melissa will share ideas on how she feeds her family of four nutritious and flavorful meals on a tight budget.  Learn how to examine food waste in your household and make a plan to cook and preserve all the food you purchase.Donations from local farms will give you the opportunity to examine a CSA box and plan a cooking and preserving strategy.  CSA boxes will be raffled off at the end of the evening.Leave knowing how to reduce or eliminate food waste from your household while saving money and eating delicious, healthy food.
